Time frame: 1 week
Role: User experience research, UI Design
Tool: Balsalmiq (Wireframe), Photoshop, Illustrator, Adobe XD
I am a person who desperate needs some financial discipline but never been great with numbers. After examining the existing personal fin-app, I decided to design an app that purely focuses on the one requirement I have—keep track of where the expense go.
20-40 years old young professionals who has less complicated money management portfolio
Create an app for personal budget management
Keep the function simple and friction-free
I created persona and defined user flow at research. The persona depicts a young professional who is just starting his/her new career. At this stage of life, their goal is to learn wealth management for smaller financial goals. The app needs to facilitate better expense distribution by showing a nice visual display of the percentage of each category. At the same time, since their investment combination is not very complicated, they don’t need as complicated functionalities as other financial management apps. Finally, concerning the privacy of banking information, the app need not link to personal banking infos, but will have the users record the expense manually.
To sum up, the apps features the following:
Only focuses on expense tracking
No need to link to personal account
Clear display of expense categories and percentage
